solitude, sacred enclosures, landscape art

My research examines solitude as a practice, the crossing and active maintenance of boundaries rather than the psychological state of being alone. I define solitude as the practice of sensory, semiotic, and social restriction, focusing on its materiality: the nested infrastructures, architectures, paraphernalia, and techniques of the body used to dampen these inputs.
